Missions That We Support
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age.
--Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)
The following is a brief summary of our supported missions. It should be noted that individuals and groups within the church often contribute additional resources that are not reflected here.
Lincoln Christian College and Seminary:
Lincoln continues to provide a quality education built upon Christian principles to more than a thousand students each year. In addition they provide valuable resources to Christian churches in the form of guest speakers, training workshops, and advice and counsel to church leaders. Their annual church leadership conferences draw capacity crowds. Under Dr. Keith Ray's superb guidance, Lincoln continues to grow and thrive, producing the Christian leaders of tomorrow.
Little Galilee Christian Assembly:
Ken Rutledge and his staff host several hundred youth at camp each year. Many accept Christ and are baptized either during the camp or when they return to their home churches. In addition, several hundred attend adult camps during the year. Campers pay only about half the actual cost of the camp and the balance is made up from contributions, mostly from supporting churches.
The Kaohsiung Good News Christian Church continues to grow and prosper under the guidance and leadership of David and Brenda Atkin. They are expanding their ministry to other locations in Taiwan during 2003.
Illini Children's Christian Home Ministries:
Headquartered in Saint Joseph, Illinois, the Illini Children's Christian Home Ministries offers children and families guidance, nourishment and salvation through current and relevant Christian social services.
The Christian Village (Division of Christian Homes, Inc.):
Christian Homes has had remarkable success, including very high ratings from federal and state inspections, Medicare certification at their facilities, a very high occupancy rate, streamlined operation through computer hardware and software updates, and an overall increase in contributions In addition to the financial support that River Valley provides to this organization, several church members volunteer for monthly visits to work at the facility.
Chaplaincy Endorsement Commission:
The Chaplaincy Endorsement Commission brings ministers from the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ into the vital ministry of military chaplaincy. Military chaplains go where civilian clergy cannot go, providing ministry world-wide, aboard ships at sea, in combat zones or troubled areas, and on special military missions.
Lecce Christian Mission:
Pino Neglia ministers to his congregation in Italy through Sunday services, weekly Bible studies and prayer meetings.
Dr. C.Y. Kim and his staff spread the gospel of Jesus Christ in Asia. Because Christians are often persecuted in these areas, their work is often difficult and dangerous. They are presently building a kindergarten, a medical clinic, an education center for disabled children and an orphanage in the region.
